What kind of Campaign Structure do you use?

Posted by ashd1715 on September 30, 2022 at 4:11 am

Hi all. I’ve been using the alpha/beta structure where I start with phrase Match in one AG and then move high performing keywords and search terms into an exact match AG. Though this one has issues because if I want to move “furniture rental” into exact match because it’s performing well – I can’t because then I’d miss out on getting hits from search terms that have text before and after furniture rental phrase.

So I’ve been looking to perhaps change the way I structure my account and campaigns. I would be curious to learn how people these days structure things?

If you’re going to separate ad groups by match type, I’d group phrase and exact together and have a separate ad group for broad (although separating match types isn’t always needed, more of a preference). If you see a search term show up for a phrase match keyword that is performing well, add it as exact! If all goes according to plan, all that traffic for the search term will now match with your new exact match keyword and you may also see increased performance as you are now targeting that exact search term that performed well for your phrase match kw.

Regarding you’re concern over not wanting to “move” the keyword “furniture rental” to exact, there is no need to. Keep the phrase match “furniture rental” but also add an exact match for the term that you want to specifically target, in this case [furniture rental]
