What is the best way to structure a URL for SEO?
I originally tried posting this in [r/bigseo](https://www.reddit.com/r/bigseo/) but it was removed because my near-eight-year-old account isn’t old enough (?).
Say you have a website that targets a specific location, and you’re looking to expand. For example, your website might be www dot bobshvac dot com for an HVAC company. Bob does well and wants to expand. Let’s say his original page was targeting New York City. Now he’s doing well enough that he wants to expand into Long Island. Then he wants to target Jersey City, Newark, and so on. He decides to create landing pages for each new location but wants to target “HVAC service” and the location. His original site used the focus keyphrase, “hvac service nyc.” Now for the landing pages, he’s using the same format, “hvac service [location].” Should his URL structure have a simple location, such as www dot bobshvac dot com/[location], or should it be www dot bobshvac dot com/[focus keyphrase]? Yoast seems to think that the whole focus keyphrase should be in the slug, while other articles online suggest using only the location.
Thanks in advance.
