What is the average follow – unfollow ratio on Instagram? And how can i make it better?
Hi, i am a social media manager for a page whose audience are mainly freelancer writers and freelance content creators.
Lately I am seeing a lot of followers but also a lot of unfollowers, take the final follower count to around 5-10 new followers per day.
New followers have increased this week – here are the stats
Overall – 176
Follows – 297
Unfollows – 121Most of the times the unfollow number is high, making overall growth close to around 100 followers per week.
Can you all help me out with what the issue might be? Is it the content that’s not working? Why are the new followers not sticking around?

How are you gaining a new followers? They might be not your target audience (don’t have interest in your content but it’s nothing bad with content) so they are unfollowing your account in a couple of days right after they followed

I just spent a little time looking over your channel. What’s missing from your question is how your getting followers now. Are you advertising? Are you following others in the niche? Right now, you’ve got just shy of 11k followers and are only following 261 people. If you’re using a strategy where you follow others to get a follow-back and then unfollow them, that could be part of your problem.
From the channel itself, there’s an huge inconsistency to the posts. The horizontal split-screen video thumbnails look weird and cut half the face off of both host and guest. Of the more recent posts, the Top Quotes with Roshan Abbas is the only one that’s really Instagram friendly but even it just has the guests name. Not their expertise or what the benefit is of listening to the episode. I also see multiple thumbnails that say Ep 7 yet appear to be completely different podcasts. I think you should work on getting crystal clear on your messaging. And try to avoid these thumbnail/infographics with too much small text like, for example, Pick and Pill and Royal Idioms. Finally, I’d say pick a branding scheme and stick with it for a bit. The deeper I scroll, the more I see completely different episode graphics. It’s blue and gold and then it’s gold and red and then it’s purple and pink…
