I know SKAGs are old-hat but what do you think about using SPAGs?

My buddy wrote an article on SPAGs and now I’m considering taking the plunge. I understand it’s against the rules so I won’t link it. Anyhow, it really got me thinking. What’s been your experience with them?

Only useful for top selling products

Could be interesting for small catalogs or top sellers.

Beyond that, it’d be pretty difficult to maintain I’d guess

I don’t understand the point of a SPAG unless it’s the only ad group and product in a campaign so you can funnel dedicated budget there. Is the goal to have bids at the product level? Because you can just have product groups drilled down to the item ID level.

Maybe I’m missing something obvious? I just don’t see how ad groups have much of a role for shopping campaigns overall, outside of reporting.
