Tracking: conversions – Is thank you page reliable?

Posted by seohelper on November 11, 2020 at 8:10 am

So I was wondering. Nowadays there are a lot of apps. So when you want to pay, a third party app starts and you can complete your order. However sometimes I skip going to the thank-you page. This leads to not counting the conversion.

How do you guys solve this for your clients? Or is this problem inevitable (that not everyone lands on the thank-you page altough completing their payment)?

I’m curious if there is a more elegant solution here, but in my experience there’s only so much mitigation you can do. If you mark up a button click, you’re going to get inflated numbers, if you mark up a thank you page, you’re going to get deflated numbers.

I would probably see if there’s a way to optimize based on your back end data rather than trying to do that.

That said, if you have to use one of the options above, I’d take the deflated data that way automatic bidding strategies won’t optimize for bad traffic, only good traffic. Of course, you’ll need to manually true up that data and do some speculation.
