  • Thinking about hiring a personal social media manager to build my brand, does that make sense?

I’m a business consultant and think about building my own personal brand but figured that that’s too time intensive for me. I currently manage my Twitter, LinkedIn and Facebook by myself, but way to infrequent. Also, I’ve 100s of topics I would like to blog about, but don’t find the time to do so.

So, I was thinking about hiring a social media manager / content creator type of person who would make sure my Twitter is up to date, translate my thoughts into well written articles and publish them on LinkedIn / Facebook, maybe also take here and there a video of me talking about stuff I find important.

Does that sound like reasonable or over the top? Is anyone of you maybe doing a similar thing and could even share his/her experience?

This is the work I currently do for a few brands. There’s a whole field for it. No it’s not unreasonable.

This is what I do, too. You can absolutely find a social media manager to help you. A good one has copywriting skills and can learn your brand and “voice”. An even better one will help you refine that voice so that you’re connecting effectively with your clients/customers with compelling, engaging and – this is important – authentic – content. Steer clear of anyone who just gives you a stock number of posts per platform per week. You need someone who sees your big picture and can translate your ideas into content. And yes, you can expect this to be done in a part time, freelance capacity!

Hello. I do this for a few individuals and it can be a full-time job! It’s dependent on the amount of content and publishing but I’d look to have someone spending at a minimum 12 hours to support. It’s also important to work with a social manager who is a good writer in both short and long-form, as well as having some strategy experience to be able to make recommendations.

It’s absolutely doable and it’s exactly what a decent social media manager would do. Great copywriting skills are a must but also look for someone who will be able to speak in your voice so there’s consistency between your online and real life

Run as fast as you can if the person guarantees anything in terms of followers growth / number of leads they can generate.

And… It doesn’t have to be a full time job. I think most of social media managers manage multiple accounts for various customers. It all depends on your requirements and what works best for your brand.
