Hey guys, I am a beginner in SEO and I have recently been given the task of handling the company’s organic growth related things, including SEO.
We have a blog, I have been working on it but I read that building backlinks in crucial for ranking in Google.
I have been reading up a lot on SEO and watching videos so I have a rough idea about how it works. I also have been focusing on keyword research with Google Keyword planner and Ubersuggest.

My concern is how do I build backlinks in a niche that is about special needs, autism, and special education since most of the well ranking websites are government or medical related who I *highly* doubt will throw me a bone?

This is such an open ended question. What does your business target in relation to special needs? How much do you know about SEO?

This is a hard one for a beginner. Google’s E-A-T initiative will work against your content if you’re trying to do content about anything medical related. Those categories tend to be hard unless you’re considered a authoritative source of information in Google’s eyes. Sorry if this didn’t help much.

To find links in any niche, ask yourself one very important question: What websites do the people I want to visit my website use on a regular basis? The answer in your case is likely to be forums, blogs, and directories. Used advanced search operators to identify targets and just start doing the outreach and keeping track.

My best advice to a beginner is to write the content and not worry about backlinks. Keep iterating the content and track your progress, eat up a bunch of low search volume keywords and use the built/gained authority to increase your position on other search terms.

If you really are desperate for links, find other community resources to link to you. However, if you are providing resources for people with special needs you will get linked eventually.
