Hey, hoping to get some advice. I have a website selling customised stag night t shirts in the UK. Covid has destroyed by business as all my items are sold for group activities. I’m looking at spending some money on SEO over the next 6 months so I can hit the ground running when hopefully things are better. Problem is there is no guarantee covid will be done by then but my budget will be exhausted in 6 months. If that’s the case then does that mean the 6 months worth of SEO will be for nothing if I cant then continue you it due to lack of funds? Basicaly I don’t want to do 6 months of seo for no reason if I still cant sell products due to covid.

If you’re doing it yourself, you don’t actually need to spend any money on SEO.

I guess the way to look at it would be to think that the six months of SEO wouldn’t just last you for six months. The backlinks you build, the on-page/technical changes made will sustain you for a while, beyond the six months of work. Of course, it’s better to keep investing in SEO if you can, but some investment is probably better than none. It isn’t really like PPC where you pay for six months of ads and then never really see any RoI on that again.

I think the bigger question (which I am sure you have considered) is when will your business model for stag t-shirts be viable again? Is there any way you diversify in the meantime?

To be as honest and up front in this uncertain time, it’s just not worth investing in this business with unknown timelines of when your business will be viable again. If you still feel the need to look into marketing, I would be looking to pivot your product offering and looking at Facebook/instagram ads. I am just not sure SEO is the right path for you at this time.
