Should I create multiple landing pages for a local business?
Posted by dorritosatnoon on September 27, 2022 at 5:43 pmFor example roofing.
Should I create different landing pages for
-metal roofing
-Terracotta
-shingles
-roof repair
-etcOr just one general landing page for roofing services?

GuestSeptember 27, 2022 at 6:46 pmSometimes. You’ll want the ads/ad groups mentioning keywords on the page they are landing on. If it were me, I would create landing pages that match up to ad groups which focus on specific services.
There isn’t a best way to do this. It’s worth testing to see what works best for you, your copy, and your client. One way might be:
Ad Group 1 – Residential Roofing, with a residential roofing landing page that could mention shingles, terracotta, roof repair, metal roofing, residential roof repair, home roof repair, etc.
Ad Group 2 – Commercial Roofing, with a commercial roofing landing page that could mention metal roofing, commercial roof repair, etc.
Other ad group & landing page ideas might be: Roof Inspection, Commercial Roof Inspection, Roof Assessment, Roof Maintenance… No idea of the viability of those, though. You’d want to ask your client how they would describe their range of services to see if there’s anything worth setting up an ad group for that doesn’t fit in residential/commercial roofing. It could also fit in those categories but still be worth creating its own ad group, like if you found some lower traffic keywords that still give high ROI. Having them be in their own ad group can let you control the cost of those ads more easily. For one of our electrician clients, we have general “electrician” campaigns, as well as “electrical panel install” which is a high ROI service for them.

GuestSeptember 27, 2022 at 9:14 pmIs the local business willing and able to spend the money required to **properly test** multiple landing pages? Proper testing is needed to get enough data to properly optimize and find that “winning” lander, if possible. But many companies spread themselves too thin.
If the business isn’t willing to send hundreds or even thousands of clicks to each landing page in just testing them out, it would be best to have just one general landing page.
And optimize it to oblivion.

GuestSeptember 27, 2022 at 9:28 pmSooooo, I manage Google Ads for Roofers across the country here is my 2 cents.
Always specific landing pages for the following:
General Roofing (Location city Specific) x5-10
Residential Roofer
Roof Replacement
Tile Roofs (clay, concreate, barrel, slate etc)
Metal Roofs
Flat Roofs
Concrete Roofs
Shingle Roofs
Hail Damage
Roof Emergency
Leaky Roof
Wind Damage
Roof Repair
Roof Damage
Roof InspectionCommercial Roofing
General Roofing (for brand and anything that falls out of scope)
Those are my “ad groups” and then each have negative keywords within to limit overlapping and depending on client budget, services, search volume for that area and what has the best QS, Conv Rate and Cost/Conv they are paused/enabled accordingly. In 1-3 months you should have a conversion rate of about 20%. Make sure you landing pages load FAST.

Good luck!
