  Question about cross domain tracking in GA

  I’ve posted this question in the GA and analytics subreddits, but strangely all the responses are invisible to me.

  Anyway, I’m trying to setup cross domain tracking between our website and its subdomain. My question is, do I HAVE to use the same tracking id (GA code) for both? If it’s not necessary to, any benefits of using the same id?

  Yes you should use the same ID, best practice.

  Especially in a world where cross domain tracking is going to become more difficult with the decline of the cookie (yes even for Google).
