  • Providing Value on Social Media

Posted by seohelper on March 5, 2021 at 6:09 am

    hey guys

We want to start using social media to build a community around our IT business, we don’t want to make posts selling we want to post things of value.

The main thing we can think of is posting short tutorials on how to fix common IT problems, what else could we do?

That’s a great place to start! Essentially, dive into the brain of your ideal customer, and answer any questions and solve any problems that may come up. Introduce your team, showcase your credentials and expertise, and position yourself as the #1 choice in your field.

Which social media platforms you are targeting

Also what kind of services are you providing, and who is your target customer? You can also go to answerthepublic.com to get some ideas of what people are searching for when it comes to IT – you might find some good inspiration on there.
But really depends on services you offer and what kind of people you want to attract. Eg do you want your community to be people that know IT, or people that have no idea about anything IT? Your content will be very different depending on the answer to that question. 🙂

    >we want to post things of value.

That’s great! It’s very important to start by really wanting to provide value. The sales will come then as well.

It depends on your business and your offer too. IT is a very broad field. The posts should be relevant – for your field of activity and your customers/prospects.

A few extra details would be useful to determine what else you could do.

Anyway, keep a few things in mind:

    * Your business: Do you sell IT products or services? What do you sell?
    * The market: What’s your target audience? What are they interested in? What is useful?
    * The presentation: The company’s tone of voice

If you just started, you should think a bit how you want to present the business – funny/professional/witty/chatty/etc.

Whatever other social apps you put your videos on, I highly advise repurposing them on YouTube as well. The content you’re describing is gold on that channel since so many people learn how to fix stuff themselves by searching for answers on YouTube.

you have to find out what are the top social media your country region ar using. Build and work on your presence in these media. Find out special social media sites where people are looking for help be present there too. Then post there periodically. You also should have a website, where you summarize everything. Then you get a lot of reoccurring visitors.

Are you planning on creating your own online community, or posting to existing ones?

That’s a great start. In addition to this, comment and answer questions on other people’s posts. People often post IT related questions. Answer them and focus on being helpful. Sometimes those interactions lead to more business than your own posts.

Before posting any contents and articles, first, think what are your target-customers? What are their behaviors? What kind of contents they would like to engage? What are their interests?

Second, what kind of IT business you would like to build? What are your services? You said you want to post things of value, so what kind of values you would like to give them? And what make you think those will be valuable for them?

Third, you are trying to use social meida. It’s true that nobody want to see your selling post. In the same way, they also don’t want to see your tutorials on their newsfeed every days. Because social media is about being social. So think about what kind of social posts (of course related to your IT and their problems) they would like to read and engage most?

So, write down these 3 basic points and define what will be the best fit both for you and for your customers. I’m pretry sure you will know what to post then.

I will give some examples you should try more than how to – tutorials.

    1. IT trending post – ( eg. what IT related articles or which IT business is trending in this week, month, year – you can talk about that but remember to be in the right time)

    2. IT knowledge sharing post – ( eg. best way to improve your system blah blah, some useful tips to hack your life easier blah blah, how that blah blah IT business started and how they become popular in 2021, how to solve-tutorials)

    3. IT recommendation post – eg. 3 useful tools you should try when you doing blah blah, the best blah blah system of all time, 5 valuable IT website to visit, unboxing video)

    I hope this can help.

If the main (only) idea you have to share is to create content around fixing common IT problems, I’m sure there are hundreds of them you can list. Hundreds of pieces of content just in the one idea you have.

You say “we” so choose an hour a week ahead and set a brainstorm meeting with everyone. You’re going to be competing with hundreds/thousands of videos fixing IT problems across the internet already, so you need to be short, correct, easy to follow, and fun.

You need to list every IT problem you can fix in a short video. Determine the list, the correct steps to fix it, how you’re going to film/record, the voiceover, who is going to edit the content, etc. Create the top-10 most common needed fixes and test them over a few months – if you get the results you are looking for, then create the rest.
