Paused Google Ads Campaigns not Recovering

Posted by seohelper on December 9, 2020 at 12:20 am

Having issues with Google Ads for over 20 days. I paused my campaigns (they were decently optimized) for 2 hours and after that the impressions and clicks haven’t recovered.

    I tried:

    1. Switching from max conversions to max clicks
    2. changed the target CPA bid
    3. added broad keywords that have high volume
    4. added a new campaign (duplicated) – which has 0 impressions in the last week and still in ‘learning’ status
    5. Tweaked budgets up / down

No campaign is really performing. Google has been useless to offer advice.

I’m really at a point where I want to delete my ads account and start from scratch. I thought I will get screwed for a few days, but not 20 days… in the meantime, the cost has been the same (saw CPC got from 50 cents to $5).

Anyone seen this before, or can offer advice different than the above?

Remake it from scratch, don’t dup.

    … or move on.

You’ve made a flurry of drastic changes in a short space of time all while trying to use automatic bidding strategies that rely on historical performance. Unfortunately the glut of changes will have only contributed to the problem, not helped it.

You’ll have to go back to manual bidding (which is what I assume you were on prior to being on Max Conversions) and build performance back up again.

This is weird and really sucks.
I would try creating a campaign from scratch, not duplicating it.
    Use BMM keywords +blue +tennis +shoes
    Make your CPA really high.
    Or T ROAS really low.
Obvious, but make sure you didn’t add any crazy negative keywords

You can’t just pause and restart. You need to go back to square one and relaunch how you started slow to optimize from there. Also stop making so many changes so often, it is throwing the account off.
