Almost as a rule, we don’t use keyword tools during a campaign setup. There are a few reasons why.
1. I’ve found that external keyword tools are, almost universally, not super great quality. They may work in some general common applications, but the more niche you get, the less they give you.
2. Google’s built-in Keyword Planner is actually pretty good if you’re using it in an account with decent spend levels, and it’s honestly better than a lot of other tools.
3. Simple common sense and manual Googling can give you some great results, it just requires a little brain power.
If we’re ever super stuck on keywords, sometimes the People Also Asked boxes in Google are very helpful as well as auto-complete. Answer the Public is another tool that we sometimes use.
However, in 99% of cases, just Googling and coming up with your own keywords is almost always best for us.
