  • Is “therapist” too close to “the rapist”? for Facebook standards???

Posted by seohelper on February 20, 2020 at 11:46 pm

I am trying to create a custom Facebook page username (@throwawaytherapist – for example) but I am getting this error message:
*” This username isn’t available. It contains words that aren’t allowed on Facebook. “*

Facebook accepts it just fine with a green check mark if I take off one letter from the word but no combination of letters and words with “therapist” seems to work.

WHAT GIVES? How can I get the word therapist in my custom page username?

I had a similar issue with naming a Facebook group. The name included a 4-letter abbreviation that contained the letters “fb” (although they didn’t stand for Facebook) and there was no getting around the error. Try using “therapy”.

LOL, back in the days, we joked about domain names with different readings, like:

    penisland

    expertsexchange

    hollandshitfestival

    Or top level domains,

    …bit.ch

    …co.ck

The/one solution then would have been to add hyphens. In your case though, hyphenation would not help you. I guess intentional misspellings or misplaced hyphens/underscores, look-alike characters, or just maybe some emoji tricks (though they are probably invalid for usernames) could help? The downside is those make your username harder to search, remember, or type.

    Edit: also consider synonyms?

YES!! I had this exact same problem setting up a page for “….TheTherapist.” Has to go with “Therapy” something or other.

At least you aren’t an analyst and therapist.

    Isn’t Therapist a protected word?

Maybe worth checking on local laws to see if Facebook is responding to this.
