Is Instagram dying? What’s the ‘next’-‘new Instagram’?
Posted by seohelper on November 15, 2020 at 5:10 amIs Instagram dying? With its many new changes – reels, shopping etc it’s no longer the platform it used to be but is it on its way out? The way when FB tried to do too much it became uncool and Instagram took over. If yes, what’s the ‘next’ Instagram? The next visuals focused social media company? As a company having their entire business on Instagram I am very dependant on the platform but worried that I’m putting my eggs in one basket that may be breaking. Is there another social media platform to engage in? Not Tik Tok that’s banned in India where I’m from. My niche is fashion and luxury.

GuestNovember 15, 2020 at 5:30 amI’d say TikTok is #1 now in terms of social media presence and engagement , not sure what can you do instead if it’s banned in India. If you’re looking to run campaigns, it seems like google shopping might be a good option. Personally, I think Instagram still has potential, you just have to be very creative in terms of ways to engage your followers

GuestNovember 15, 2020 at 3:11 pmIt isn’t exactly dying, but I guess the right term here is “transitioning”.
Once upon a time Instagram was a platform for creative people who wanted publish their cellphone photos using set of quick filters that helped making photos look cool in no time.A few years after Facebook acquired Instagram, it has changed completely. Now it’s a social network driven by ads and focused more into business.

GuestNovember 15, 2020 at 4:34 pmIt’s definitely getting weird. Interesting for business with new features but who are the businesses supposed to market to if all of the casual users/potential followers/hopeful consumers are off the app. The in your face, overt marketing and pushing of consumption is really driving casual users away.

GuestNovember 15, 2020 at 9:33 pmTikTok is blowing up. However, Instagram isn’t “dying”. There are still hundreds of millions of users on Instagram per day. It’s just changing. It has really good opportunities for shopping. I just spent 1 hour looking through small boutiques on Instagram then made a purchase. It’s evolving. Consider Instagram 2010 a small dragon with limited powers. Instagram 2020 is an evolved dragon with more strength and abilities.

GuestNovember 15, 2020 at 9:33 pmThe big dogs don’t really die. Twitter is still there. So is FB. It is more likely that whatever the next big thing will be bought out by the big players or simply copied (snapchat, reels). So while there are things a lot of people don’t like it is not going anywhere. The big established SM companies are covered under the 203 law that keeps them from being liable for lawsuits. New companies trying to break in don’t get that. Thus they get bought out or their platform incorporated into one of the big players. I dont see that changing unless Congress breaks up the tech giants as monopolies (which they are), except of course that Congress doesn’t understand the technology so they can’t possibly regulate or break them up. So again, the big boys are here to stay. Whatever the next cool platform is, they will either buy or copy.

GuestNovember 15, 2020 at 11:19 pmI think Spotify is gonna expand into videos. TikTok definitely is the #1 platform right now but something is coming… I don’t know what but the next big social media platform has to have been in the works and hopefully will be launched soon

GuestNovember 16, 2020 at 4:00 amHere is the problem as I see it:
BEFORE: Insta was mostly people posting their stuff, their cool photos. There was some business as well, but in an artistic way. It was mostly small companies that saw the younger snake people as their target audience.
NOW: Nearly every business has an Insta profile and they all post their sale ads on it, through sponsored. And of course, they have their templated organic posts, which are also blatant sales ads. Add into that organic posts that are also ads by influencers that are sponsored by brands to show them off. once a user scrolls through all of that nonsense, they are annoyed before even getting to the 1st cute puppy they came to see.

GuestNovember 16, 2020 at 2:31 pmIf you knew what the “Next Instagram” is, you probably would turn a good amount of money in VC-investment and not care about the marketing at all.

GuestNovember 18, 2020 at 1:47 amI think that social media has evolved so much and that tik tok is definitely one of the most used platforms today. I think that keeping your business on Instagram and Tik Tok is definitely going to help you. There is so much exposure on those apps.
