Is Google Shopping performance tanking for anyone else lately? (USA)

Posted by seohelper on October 1, 2021 at 10:12 pm

I run my own stores as well as managing a few client accounts. On one of my stores for example, I have been spending $600-1000+/day every day for over 2 years with very consistent results up until around 1-2 months ago.

While it started as a gradual decline in performance, the last 7-14 days in particular have been abysmal. The strange part is that the campaigns are still spending the same or higher amounts than before, conversion volume has just fallen off a cliff where it was otherwise incredibly consistent for 2+ years.

Nothing has changed with my website, offer or otherwise that could have caused this dramatic change.

I am just wondering if anyone else is experiencing anything similar?

In the past, I have been able to identify some sort of catalyst following slight performance drops and diagnose it. This time however I am at a complete loss and am struggling to cope with it.

    Thanks in advance

What bid strategy are you using? I used to have great results with manual bids but as they continue to push automation I’ve given up and have gone to ROAS on shopping. Lately results have been very inconsistent day to day (more than ever) but have held ok over 30 days.

Assume you have checked all the usual suspects ?

    – product group performance, (merch center)

    – everything green, reviews, etc (merch center)

    – goog search niche/product and see who else is showing up on ads?

    – check auction insights for rank and avg cost per bid?

    – anything on your site thats change (popup/signup offer, etc)

The other thing which is hard to quantify without more data, is how many advertisers are moving more $ from FB to G given challenges post ios14 for many niches.
