  • [Instagram] Will a big decrease in engagement from the previous week (after I posted a paid ad last week) cause my posts for this week to perform badly on the algorithm?

Last week I posted a paid ad and now that that ad is over, my insights are displaying things like -99.2% engagement compared to last week as the ad I had up got much higher numbers than I do organically. Will the difference in this week’s stats and last week’s stats cause my posts for this week to fail and get low impressions from hashtags?

It shouldn’t do. The analytics are taking into account the fact that it was paid advertising. So you’re not stuck having to pay forever, at least in theory. Obviously you will return to the much more terrestrial numbers of organic reach, but you expected that.

I had that happen, after running 2 ads my new post engagement and visibility was down to 1/3 of what it was and then instagram started pushing me to promote each post. This was several months ago and still haven’t gotten it back to normal even with no new ads.

I don’t think so. Organic engagement will be like a chain reaction, but I don’t think paid posts affect your organic posts.
