i have no clue if this is the right subreddit for this, i’m sorry if it is not.
But i’m very confused, i have a private instagram account and recently i got a new number, i have not linked this number to my instagram account but somehow someone found it, There is this guy that i let follow me and he said he has been stalking me and he got my number off my instagram account, he has been spam calling me over and over and harassing me, i don’t understand how he found it?? i have not listed my number on my account or publicly at all, it’s not linked to my account so how did he find it? -

If you use the mobile Instagram app at all it picks up the phone number associated with your mobile provider’s agreement with the phone.
Only way around it is to set up a call forwarding thing using your new number (similar to Google Voice) then only respond to calls that show they are forwarded calls.
You should still call the police and file a restraining order and/or see if they can peruse a case of harassment against the person.
