**How we helped a local business grow after COVID**

The business we helped is a Beauty salon.
The online presence of this particular Beauty Salon was mostly non-existing when Joyce asked for our help.

    **Google Maps**
We always start out with checking the google maps listing of all businesses with a physical location. We soon discovered that this beauty salon was not claimed on Google, but did have a few bad reviews from 3 years ago. ( position on google maps for Beauty salon \[city\] was in the 50s)

We proceeded to claim the Business. Usually it can take up to 6 weeks before a business can get verified. But we had notified Joyce on day 1 to make a video for us of her store and street.

After the verification we removed the reviews that were placed, so we could start over. ( THIS IS NOT ALWAYS POSSIBLE !!) , and updated all the information found in the listing like business opening times, website and phone number.

For now we are done with Google Maps optimization.

    **Website optimization**
The next step in the process was optimizing the website. We looked at the details of the website in Semrush. It was not much, but it did do its work of providing information about the business.

There were a few things that we could do to optimize the site. We minified all the images, and reduced render blocks. On the contact page we added a detailed directions to reach the business location ( this helps increase the ranking for Google maps).

Using Screaming frog we found a few links that did not exist. We deleted those and generated a new Sitemap.

We didn’t change anything else since those were the wishes of Joyce. We did give the client a step by step on what could be done in the future if she wants to get the most out of it.

Since further optimalization of the site had stopped we proceeded with the next step, which was getting more people to leave a review on google for the business.

    **Offline marketing**

One of the best ways to do that is to have a QR code linking to your Google business listing, this QR code can be on everything related to your company. We chose to put it on the stamp card, after 4 treatments, the customer will get 1 treatment for free. A great incentive, and people are more willing to leave a positive review.

**What did we do in short:**

    · Claimed her business on Google

    · Removed fake/false reviews ( that were dated)

    · Optimized the Google listing

    · Optimized site

    · Come up with a plan to increase online presence (OFFLINE)

    **Current status**

In the initial three months of working with the client, we have increased her Google maps placement by 45. Which places here in the top 10 of her city. The beauty salon is also getting a steady stream of reviews which will only push it up higher, with our optimizations of her business site.

We managed to get her an additional of 10 paying customers per month, which came from the increased Google Maps ranking.

Currently we are still working with Joyce on optimizing her business.
