How to charge for PPC Freelancing Services?

Posted by seohelper on July 2, 2021 at 11:17 am

    Hi all,

I’m thinking of going freelance as a digital marketer (and personal trainer) next year.

How do people generally charge for PPC services? Is it a percentage of monthly spend?

    Thanks

There are many ways, and there isn’t any single “right” way.

The norm used to be percentage of ad spend (usually in the 10-20% range) but the industry seems to be drifting away from this. Other folks charge on a performance/commission basis. Others charge hourly.

At Discosloth we charge a flat monthly retainer fee. We’ve found that clients both large and small prefer this method as they know what to expect, and it’s decreased client churn for us as well as being more profitable with smaller to midsize accounts.

I charge a fixed hourly rate, for a set number of hours per month. We negotiate how many hours they’ll need, but don’t haggle on pricing. On a rolling contract that either side can modify, pause or back out of at any time. Charged for at the beginning of the following month.

It keeps the invoicing simple, and clients seem happy with the arrangement.

    Here’s a great starting point: [https://adespresso.com/blog/ppc-agency-pricing-how-chose/](https://adespresso.com/blog/ppc-agency-pricing-how-chose/)

Stay away from hourly if you value your time and freedom. Value-based retainer model is my method.
