    Got shifted in SEO

Posted by seohelper on April 20, 2020 at 9:41 am

Hi Guys, just in a terrible situation due to COVID -19 most our clients for PPC have stopped their campaigns due to which my boss has shifted me in SEO team ( I work for a Digital Marketing agency) SEO is a part where I do not have much experience in I just wanted to know is there any part of SEO where it benefits me in PPC once I’m back. Any guys in a similar situation or went through this? It’s quite depressing for me honestly!!

    Hey,

appreciate it’s not ideal for you, but in reality it’s a massive opportunity!
There’s a wide range of transferable skills and SEO is basically the other side of the coin to PPC. Understanding both will make you a lot more valable to your clients and company.

Particularly, try and understand the keyword research aspects of SEO. Often it’s a lot more in-depth as SEO a long-term goal.

Be glad you have a job.

SEO is the otherside of the coin of PPC. The keyword research is somewhat the same and very important.

I highly recommend reading this guide: [https://backlinko.com/seo-this-year](https://backlinko.com/seo-this-year)

It’s very practical, gives you a good overview, and there’s a lot of advice you can take away from it and start implementing right away.

And like others have said, this is a great opportunity to learn some new skills and become even more marketable. Jump on it with both feet!

**Edit**: Saw in another comment you mentioned you’re mostly focused on building backlinks. Another great guide for that here: [https://backlinko.com/link-building](https://backlinko.com/link-building)

seo is just a black box at this point
It’s really just about knowing which keywords you want to rank for optimizing the page and buying links to point to that page.

Since you are in off page seo team, learn different methods of link building. Guest posting and acquiring Paid contextual links would be the best things you can do right now to get good rankings. Also be careful on the anchor texts that you would use while building links.

I have been in a similar situation. I was hired as a Digital Marketing Manager as a PPC expert that would oversee SEO tasks for my department I was heading up. That quickly changed to me having to learn everything I could in SEO (and still learning!). Knowing both sides lets you see the whole picture for a client and understand what’s working and what’s not for them. In the past, I would have tried to horde all the budget I could in PPC, but now I’m in the position to request reallocation of budgets to SEO that will help benefit the client. It’s great to stay niche and keep your heart in it, but SEO is great knowledge to have and makes you more well rounded as a digital marketer.
