Google’s landing page testing is very weak

Posted by seohelper on March 5, 2020 at 4:49 pm

Not a question, but more of an annoyance. How can a multi-billion dollar platform like Google Ads still give virtually no tools for proper A/B testing of landing pages? I only know of two ways, duplicating an ad and sending the duplicated version to a new LP (but the ad serving is not split evenly so not a true A/B test), or setting up experiments which is annoying when you only want to test ads in specific places, not entire campaigns. I almost wonder if they have deals with companies like VWO or Optimizely to not implement these features (I doubt it, but would not be surprised).

They push smart ads and responsive ads, all which have the functionality to accept multiple headlines and descriptions, yet you cannot put multiple landing pages in as well? I think this is something they really need to focus on in 2020 since landing page is such a huge part of the funnel. I’m surprised they have continued to neglect it up to this point.

You can run a campaign experiment and just switch the landing page on your ads. This will let you control the traffic flow of your a/b test and let you test landing pages against each other.
