Doing some social media work for a number of not-for-profits, who do not have Stock accounts. Entails seeking out media from ‘free’ sites, but I am finding a lot of material I am going through, and do not have any record of where it came from or a means to verify licence checks were carried out.

How do you guys manage this issue?

I don’t post anything that I don’t have a license for or know for a fact is license-free. Simple as that.

For cause marketing, generally the other organizations who do the research want you to use it. But you still need to quote the source. On Facebook I put it in the copy, and on Instagram I put it in the comments using MLA style. On Facebook and Twitter I try to include a URL shortened link to the source.

Curious why/how you’re encountering so much content without the ability to quote the source? Maybe I’m misunderstanding your problem.
