Facebook ads – exclude previous leads/registrations

Posted by seohelper on July 5, 2021 at 8:17 am

    Hi there,

Looking for any advice on how to screen previous leads/registrations from Facebook ads.

The usual method seems to be uploading a list of these leads to Facebook to then exclude but my client doesn’t want to do this because of data protection.

I’ve created a custom audience of previous leads/registrations to exclude but the max time window seems to be 180 days meaning we’re still getting people in our existing audience who registered before then signing up on our website after getting targeted by ads.

Is there another way around this?

Pretty sure if you’re using conversion tracking (actually firing off the extra bit of JavaScript on completion) then you can create a custom audience called ‘converters’. You can then add that as an exclude list to your campaign. No upload required.

Depends on your set up in some ways but could exclude visitors of a confirmation page?

Edit: just seen your 180 days issue so sorry that my response wouldn’t get round this.

if the leads were coming out of a lead camp, then on the ad set level you can exclude the persons that have filled your form.
