  • Does Domain Name (main URL part) impact SEO?

Do the words in the main URL (I am not talking about the slug part of the URL) have an impact on SEO?

Example problem: I have a site called **The League of Speakers (TLS)** where I write about English Speaking and how to become a good English Speaker.

I have two options for the main URL-

    [www. ***tls***. com](https://www.tls.com)

    [www. ***leagueofspeakers***. com](https://www.leagueofspeakers.com)

Can I use any of them or should it be the second one because it contains word speakers *which I might be using as the main keyword for my posts*? (Or it is only the slug part that matters and if *the keyword is included in the slug* then the main URL wording doesn’t matter.)

I personally want “tls”, or “tlsians” maybe. It is short and seems impressive. My heart is stuck on it. leagueofspeakers is long and I want to avoid this.

    Can anyone help with this?

leagueofspeakers looks cleaner IMO. tls is probably an acronym for a million different things already.

Does not affect SEO either way.

Keyword domains used to be an SEO technique but Google no longer weighs any significance to the name, only its existing authority (websites previously linked to it).

So I’d recommend choosing based on will potential customers understand the business based on it.
