Best practices for using negative keywords?

Posted by seohelper on August 26, 2021 at 3:38 pm

Having tested all match types for my keywords, I was left with some profitable and some unprofitable. I paused the unprofitable ones but some profitable keywords were broad match with paused unprofitable phrase match or exact match in the same ad group.

I was wondering if I should add the unprofitable match types to negative keywords so the profitable broad match in the same ad group doesn’t start matching the same unprofitable queries.

    Does tROAS do this automatically?

You could add the unprofitable ones as negatives to the same ad group, but I’d only add those as exact match types, as phrase is more loose nowadays, so not worth missing out on potentially relevant queries.

No, as far as I know, tROAS, just like any other strategy, won’t help you with negatives.
