Automotive: VDP Retargeting. How To Setup Dynamically?

Posted by seohelper on April 20, 2020 at 3:28 pm

Okay so I’m attempting to setup direct VDP retargeting for dynamic automotive inventory ads on facebook for an auto dealer.

✅ Catalog is created and plumbed with a data feed that updates every day with the store’s updated inventory.

✅ Rule in Catalog set to designate vehicle_id as the VIN of each vehicle

✅ Base Pixel code is installed

Now, through standard event parameters I understand each VDP needs to be designated as a certain “content_id” to match the “vehicle_id” in the catalog in order for view contents to be matched back to a product view.

I grabbed the suggested standard event code for the pixel from facebook’s site, and then realized that this looks like I have to input this for each vehicle on the website. I have to go into the page for every vehicle and input the VIN of that vehicle into that page’s pixel code.

Automotive gurus, is there a way to do this dynamically? We have way too many clients with way too many vehicles on websites we don’t even have access to that change daily to realistically go into each page’s code and add VINs in the standard event parameters.

    Thanks,

Use hootinteractive. They do this dynamically via GTM for about $50/mo per feed, both Facebook + Google. You can even filter feed by stock photos vs dealer photos. Pretty handy for a super fair price, & save yourself the headache.
