I’m going through my notifications from the last 24 hours and every other notification is them trying to sell me on an ad. ALL MY POSTS are doing better than average. EVERY PICTURE is so good that we should be spending money on it. And these things come through 5 minutes after a post goes up.

As long as you can measure how much your followers are truly connected to you and your brand you can pretty much just use Facebook’s infrastructure to reach your followers but disregard the opinion of Facebook.

These notifications are pretty annoying. But they can be easily turned off at around Settings and, next, Notifications, I guess…

I also notice they’ve started pushing your posts further and further down on TLs when they aren’t paid ads.

Instagram too. They go through phases through different cycles with users to push ads. It’s nuts because I’ve always heard organic engagement goes down if you do start paying for ads, so it seems stupid imo

I would be seeing an uptick but they started that trend over a year and a half ago, so if anything the notices could only be slightly more relentless now. I’m not really selling anything on social media, just using it to promote a non-commercial blog. And out of personal interest I’ve started some pages and groups, there and Quora Spaces.

Because it’s not costing me money I’m not broken up over FB changing their feed algorithm so that my post views were cut way back, nearly two years ago in a change by them. It is odd writing a personal interest blog that a few hundred people had been reading per post, then seeing that drop to under 100. Most people should be browsing photos or watching videos anyway; reading text takes work.
