Any other social media managers HATE using Facebook for page(s) you manage? Also, do you feel similarly about these general thoughts?
I am the Marketing Manager for a non-profit and while I love my job and all that it entails I genuinely HATE what Facebook has become. I liked the old Facebook Biz Manager but now removing notifications is so much more tedious. Facebook (and now IG) as a whole just seems like there is so much noise going on and almost TOO many options for ways to share content. I wish IG at least was left alone, with the timeline being chronological and strictly centered around sharing visual content. The addition of stories to ALL platforms (even Twitter and LinkedIn now) just seems like overkill… Not to mention TikTok has invaded all platforms. I know video content has always performed better on most platforms but the way IG hosts video and kicks you from page to page is really annoying, and that’s just talking about using it for personal reasons.
With the pandemic, I found it hard to set social goals for my org due to the uncertainties of this year. Will more people be online equaling more engagement? Or will more voices and companies utilizing online platforms more lead to an overwhelming amount of content and subsequently leading my org’s content to be lost in the sea, so to speak? Or will people be burnt out now more than ever with “virtual fatigue” after a year of doing everything online and try to distance themselves from it all together? Now I’m just ranting but it will be interesting to see how our performance goes. Prior years we had a steady increase in fans/followers across all platforms but around June we lost a lot of followers (I read research saying social engagement was at an all time low for 2020 around June). Anyone else sharing these thoughts?
