  • Is it actually worth buying Instagram engagement?

Posted by Buggera on September 15, 2025 at 6:42 am

I've been running a small instagram account for a few months now, mostly sharing travel photos and the occasional food post. Growth has been really slow though, my "best" posts barely crack 100 likes, which is kind of discouraging.

A friend mentioned that some people buy engagement (likes, comments, etc.) to make their page look more active. I've been curious, but also hesitant. On one hand, it feels a little fake, but I get why people do it, when you land on an account with almost no interaction, it can look kind of dead.

I haven't pulled the trigger because I don't want to waste money, get scammed, or risk IG flagging my account.

Has anyone here actually tried it? Did it make any difference in reach or growth, or was it just for appearances?

3 loyal followers is worth more than 100 fake ones.

    1. No.

    2. Never.

    3. Read 1 and 2 again.

The most you’ll get is a bunch of bots and it just means you’re posting to bots for a tiny income… Is that what you want to do with your life?

Don’t so Instagram for money. Do it because you enjoy it.

    After that… What happens, happens.

I’ve seen people try it and honestly it’s mostly just for appearances . Fake likes/comments don’t help with reach, and sometimes hurt engagement rates. Slow organic growth feels tough but it’s way more sustainable

As like other said, no, never, not even close. Just do your branding in proper way. Quality over quantity.

I know someone who tried Social-Fluffer and bought instagram likes and followers, and it gave their content a nice boost while still looking authentic.

you could instead invest that into ads on the platform to reach people interested in your content.

As others said, no. buying engagement is basically just buying fake signals. it might make your page look alive at first, but it won’t trick the algorithm into pushing your posts further, Instagram tracks real retention and replays, not bot likes.

    The risks i see:

    * you waste money on numbers that don’t translate into reach or sales
    * IG could flag your account
    * even if you get away with it, new followers notice notice sometimes and that kills trust

What you can do is collab with small creators in your niche or run low-budget promo ads (but only once your posts are already somewhat working), at least then you’re pulling in real people who might stick.

Also I would recommend focusing on reels. Single-image posts almost never get reach anymore, but reels can still work well if the hook is strong. If you are new to reels, you can always try free video analysis tools (like creafico for example) to get recommendations on what to improve.

    hope this helps 🙂

Buying Instagram engagement isn’t worth it. The likes and followers you get are usually fake, so they don’t bring real customers or sales. It can also hurt your reach and damage your credibility if people notice.
The better path is growing naturally. Post consistently, use reels, collab with others, and engage with your audience. It’s slower, but it actually builds trust and lasting growth.

Would you buy friends in real life? If no then don’t.
I’d look at why you use Instagram – what do you want from it?
Reach on Insta is sh*t. I’d just use a different platform (like subreddits) or not bother.
Unless it’s for authentic interaction, most social media platforms are pointless. They serve no purpose apart from to deliver ads.
