It never was.
Making it as an “influencer,” is no different than trying to make it as an actor, writer, musician, or athlete. Only a select few ever become popular enough to make a living doing it, the competition is outrageous, and those born into wealth and/or celebrity have a huge upper hand (and even they aren’t guaranteed success).
It’s easier to become famous and successful doing something else and than transitioning into it, which is just as equally unlikely.
